There is a major software (EPROMs) release due to be announced this
month, and all registered users will receive a mailing as was the
case last year with the FAX upgrade.  There are some significant
changes in the codes, some additional commands, some new things to
facilitate PBBS operations with RLI and MBL codes, some more fine
tuning of the SITOR/AMTOR timing routines, and possibly or more
importance, the addition of a new mode not yet done by any other
ham radio manufacturer…it's called NAVTEX - an internationally
standardized super-protocol on top of SITOR Mode B, that permits
the coastal stations world-wide on the NAVTEX broadcast channel on
518 KHz, to in effect control your station's display and printing
of weather and marine information
